      After putting just over 13,000 miles on my 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium with the 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid, I can confidently say this is the most well-rounded and refined 4Runner Toyota has ever built. The hybrid powertrain completely transforms the driving experience, delivering immediate torque that makes city driving, highway merging, and passing effortless while still feeling smooth and composed rather than overly aggressive. The transition between electric and gas power is seamless, and the added efficiency is noticeable without sacrificing the rugged, body-on-frame character that defines the 4Runner. On the road, it feels more planted and comfortable than previous generations, with improved ride quality and reduced noise, yet it never loses its solid, overbuilt feel. Off-road, the TRD Off-Road Premium trim remains extremely capable, with crawl control, multi-terrain select, and a locking rear differential working especially well with the hybrid’s low-end torque to provide excellent control in rough or uneven terrain.
